Adrian Petrovan

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Adrian Petrovan is an Associate Professor at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, North University Center of Baia Mare, Faculty of Engineering. His academic activity includes teaching courses in algorithm design, cryptography and information security. His research activity focuses on evolutionary computation, computational intelligence, memetic algorithms, combinatorial and network optimization problems. He is actively involved in the COSA research team, contributing to advanced studies on hybrid evolutionary algorithms and intelligent optimization methods for complex engineering applications.

Assoc. Prof. Petrovan obtained two PhD degrees at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca: PhD in Mechanical Engineering with the thesis Ontology of Product Development (2014), and PhD in Computer Science and Information Technology with the thesis The Scientific Foundation of Diploid Genetic Algorithms (2024). In 2025 he coordinated the GNaC 2023 ARUT grant «Study of diploid memetic algorithms in solving the routing problems of electric and heterogeneous vehicles» (Research Contract no. 29/01.07.2024), with the financial support of the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca.
