Marius Ardelean presented the VESTA project — Combatant Digital — funded under PNCDI IV, where HOLISUN S.R.L. participates as Partner P3 in a nine-partner consortium.
What is VESTA?
VESTA is an integrated individual tactical equipment combining ballistic protection, environmental sensors, an opto-electronic AR system and anti-drone protection. Its core objectives include:
- Ballistic protection & environmental detection — integrated tactical gear for the individual combatant;
- Sensors and tactical communications — situational awareness in the field;
- Anti-drone protection — detection and counter-action against aerial threats.
Consortium
The project is coordinated by the Military Technical Academy "Ferdinand I", with eight partners including MApN — CCISC CBRN, STIMPEX S.A., HOLISUN S.R.L., TEHNOPRO ENGINEERING SRL and other academic and technology partners. HOLISUN's contribution within VESTA leverages the same technological foundations that the company brought into the AEGIS platform developed in COSA, illustrating the synergies between defence-grade tactical sensing and smart-agriculture sensing.
The presentation underlined how research expertise developed in one project (COSA, agriculture) can be transferred and extended into adjacent domains (VESTA, defence), strengthening Romania's applied-research ecosystem.
